To offer a file for free, enter 0 as the Price. Free listings have no listing fee and no bandwidth fee, and they can be published even if you haven't set up payouts.
Make a listing free
- Open your listing from Seller hub → Listings.
- Go to Price and licenses. Under Personal, enter
0in Price. - Select Save changes, then Publish.
When the price is $0, the line under the field reads: "Free download. No listing or bandwidth fee." You don't see an earnings estimate because there is no sale to earn from.
Publish a free listing before payouts
Paid listings unlock once payouts are set up. A message in the editor says so: "Paid listings unlock once payouts are set up. Free-only listings can be published now." There is a Set up payouts link next to it.
A listing counts as free-only when its Personal price is $0 and every other license you offer is also $0. If you offer a paid Commercial or Extended license on the same listing, the listing is paid and Publish stays locked until payouts are ready. Either set a $0 price on those licenses, or untick them. See choose which licenses to offer.
Until payouts are set up, a free-only listing shows on your shop page and in category pages, but not in Esano search results or on Trending. Its badge in your Seller hub reads Live. For payout setup, see connect Stripe to get paid.
How buyers get free files
Free items skip card checkout. In the cart, a buyer with only free items selects Claim free downloads. If they also have paid items, free downloads are available separately. See claim free downloads. The $3 cart minimum only counts paid items before tax, so free items never push a cart over the line.
Each claim appears in your Orders list as a $0.00 order. See how free item claims appear in your orders.
Other things to know
- A free listing still needs everything a paid one does: a title, category, description, at least one photo and at least one approved file.
- You can change a free listing to paid later, or the other way, by editing the price. See edit a listing.
- A free price of $0 is the only price below $1.00 that's allowed. Anything from one cent to 99 cents is rejected.
- Free listings still use your listing, photo and file limits. See file size and count limits for listings.
Common questions
Does Esano charge a fee on free listings?
No. When you enter $0, the editor says "Free download. No listing or bandwidth fee."
Do I need payouts set up to publish a free listing?
Not for a free-only listing. Paid listings need payouts first. A listing that charges for any license counts as paid.
How do buyers get a free listing?
They add it to their cart and select Claim free downloads. No card payment is needed.
