How free item claims appear in your orders

Updated

When a buyer claims a free item from your shop, it appears in Orders like any other order, with a total of $0.00. You don't have to do anything to deliver it.

How buyers claim free items

Buyers claim free items from their cart. The cart button reads Claim free downloads when everything in it is free. When the cart has paid items that fall under the $3 cart minimum, a Claim free items separately button appears under checkout.

Claiming is instant. No payment is taken, and the buyer is taken to their Purchases page. The files are ready to download right away.

You can set a listing's price to free. See offer a listing for free.

Where the claim appears for you

Open Orders in your Seller hub. A free claim is listed under All, with its own order number, the buyer's first name and the item. The Total column reads $0.00.

Open the order to see the details. Buyer paid reads $0.00, Esano fee (20%) reads $0.00 and You earn reads $0.00. The item list shows the license and how many times the buyer downloaded the file.

What you can do with a free order

What you can't do

  • Issue a refund. The button only appears when there's money to refund, so it's missing on a $0.00 order.
  • Collect a payout. There's nothing to pay out. See read your Payouts page.

About the Payout badge

A free order has no release date, so its Payout badge can read "On hold until delivery". You can ignore it. Your earnings stay at $0.00 either way. For what the other badges mean, see what your order statuses mean.

Common questions

Do I earn anything from a free item?

No. A free order has a total of $0.00, so the Esano fee and your earnings are both $0.00.

Can I refund a free item?

There is nothing to refund on a $0.00 order, so the Issue a refund button doesn't appear.
