For Cricut, upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space. For Silhouette, open the SVG in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher. Unzip your download first if it came as a ZIP.
Before you start
- Download your files from Purchases and reviews. See download files you bought.
- If the file ends in .zip, unzip it. See download several files or a ZIP.
- Find the .svg file for cutting. A .png file in the same download is usually for printing or preview.
Esano shops can't upload native Silhouette Studio files (.studio3) or DXF files today. That's why cut files on Esano come as SVG, PNG and similar types. See file types you can buy on Esano.
Use an SVG in Cricut Design Space
- Open Design Space on your computer or phone.
- Start a new project and choose Upload.
- Choose Upload Image, then select the SVG from your computer.
- Add the image to your canvas.
- Resize it as needed before you send it to your machine.
SVG files are made of lines and shapes, so they scale without turning blurry. Check the size on the canvas before you cut.
Use an SVG in Silhouette Studio
SVG import works in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher. The Basic Edition can't open SVG files.
- Open Silhouette Studio.
- Choose File → Open (or Merge to add it to your current page).
- Select the SVG.
If you only have the Basic Edition, check whether the listing also includes a PNG (see check file types and sizes before you buy), or upgrade your software.
Use a PNG
A PNG is a picture, not cut lines. Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio can both bring in PNG files, and you can trace them to make cut lines. Results depend on the artwork and the app's tools. SVGs usually cut more cleanly.
If something looks wrong
Missing layers, odd colors or a design that comes in too large or too small are usually app settings. See fix a file that won't open or looks wrong.
Can I sell what I make?
That depends on your license. You need a Commercial or Extended license to sell products made with Esano files. See Esano license types explained.
Common questions
Will an Esano SVG work in Silhouette Studio?
Yes in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher, which can import SVG. The Basic Edition can't open SVG files.
Does Esano sell Silhouette .studio3 files?
No. Shops can't upload .studio3 or DXF files today, so cut files come as SVG, PNG or similar.
