Esano checks every upload twice before a buyer can get it: first a format check, then a virus scan. A file is Ready only when it passes both.
What happens to your file
- Your browser sends the file to Esano's private storage. Buyers can't reach it there.
- Esano makes a protected copy that can't be swapped out afterward, so the file that is checked is the file that is delivered.
- A sandboxed format check opens the file with no internet access. It confirms the contents match the extension and looks for scripts, macros, hidden data and other unsafe parts. A file that fails here is blocked right away and never sent on.
- A third-party virus scanner scans the same file.
- If both checks are clean, the file is Ready.
The status you see along the way is explained in upload and file check statuses.
What "Blocked" means
A blocked file failed a rule or a virus was found. It is quarantined: buyers can't download it and nobody can release it. The row tells you the reason in plain words, and fix a blocked file shows what to do for each one. Blocked files are deleted from storage after 30 days.
Unclear results never pass. If the scanner can't give a clear clean answer, the file isn't approved.
What stays private
- Downloadable files are private. They are never on a public link.
- When a buyer downloads, Esano gives them a short-lived link that works for only 60 seconds, and only if they bought the item.
- Downloadable files are delivered byte for byte as you uploaded them.
- Listing photos are different. After the check, Esano applies your crop and converts them to WebP so they can show on the site. See preview photos vs delivered files.
Files are checked again later
Esano rescans approved files periodically. If a file that was clean is flagged later, it is revoked. It shows as Blocked with the message "Esano removed this file after review. Upload a different file." Buyers can't download it, and orders affected by the removal are held while Esano sorts it out.
During a short outage of the scanner, files that were already approved stay available. New files wait until the check can run.
If you think a flag is wrong
Support can't approve a blocked file by hand. Upload a new, corrected export of the file. If you believe the virus flag is a false alarm, email customerservice@esano.com with the listing and file name, or see contact Esano support.

Common questions
Can Esano staff approve a blocked file by hand?
No. Neither sellers nor Esano staff can override a blocked result. Upload a corrected file instead.
Does Esano change my files when it scans them?
No. Downloadable files stay exactly as you uploaded them. Only listing photos are cropped and converted to WebP.
Are files checked again after they are approved?
Yes. Esano rescans approved files from time to time. If one later fails, it is removed from sale.
