A failed upload has one of three causes: the connection dropped, Esano refused the file before it started, or the safety check couldn't finish. The message tells you which.
The upload didn't finish
If you see "file name didn't upload. Check your connection and try again.", the transfer was interrupted.
- Select Dismiss on the row.
- Check your internet connection. Large files need a steady one.
- Select Add files and choose the file again.
Esano releases the unused reservation, so a failed attempt doesn't count toward your file limit. Stay on the page until the upload reaches 100%.
Esano refused the file right away
These messages appear in the upload row before anything is sent.
- "Choose a file with a plain filename." The name must be 1 to 200 characters, with no slashes or control characters, and no spaces at the start or end. Rename the file.
- "This format cannot be safely inspected. Choose a supported file." The extension isn't supported. See supported file types.
- "Files can be up to 1 GB (1,000,000,000 bytes)." or "file name is over the 1 GB limit." Make the file smaller or split it into several. Photos can be up to 20 MB each.
- "Up to 5 files." or "You've added the maximum of 5 files." The listing is full. Remove a file, or combine files in a ZIP. See file size and count limits.
- "previews must be JPG, PNG or WebP." Convert the photo first. See listing photo sizes and requirements.
The check says Check failed
Check failed means Esano couldn't finish the safety check, for example when a job stays stuck for more than 24 hours. Your file hasn't been judged unsafe.
- Find the file in the File checks list under the uploader.
- Select Retry check. Esano starts the check again from its stored copy. You don't need to upload again.
- If it fails again, select Cancel and upload the file again.
On a listing, the editor shows "The file check couldn't finish. Upload the file again." for a file in this state. A live listing shows Needs new file until the file passes. See what listing statuses mean.
A replacement upload was interrupted
If you were using Replace all files and see "Upload interrupted. Cancel this replacement below and try again.", your current files are still live. Cancel the replacement in the File checks list and start it again. See replace files on a live listing.
"Your file is still being checked"
This message means the check is taking longer than the page waits. The file appears when the check finishes. You can leave the page and come back.
If a file shows Blocked instead, see fix a blocked file. If nothing here helps, contact Esano support.
Common questions
What does Check failed mean?
The safety check couldn't finish. It isn't a verdict on your file. Select Retry check, or upload the file again.
Do I have to upload the file again after Check failed?
Not usually. Retry check re-runs the check from the file Esano already has. If it keeps failing, cancel and upload the file again.
