You keep 80% of each item price. Esano keeps 20%, and card processing is already included in that 20%.
Examples
Esano's fee is rounded to the nearest cent, and you earn the rest.
- $1.00 item: Esano fee $0.20, you earn $0.80.
- $4.99 item: Esano fee $1.00 (20% is $0.998), you earn $3.99.
- $10.00 item: Esano fee $2.00, you earn $8.00.
- $12.00 item: Esano fee $2.40, you earn $9.60.
- $29.99 item: Esano fee $6.00 (20% is $5.998), you earn $23.99.
The order page in your seller hub shows both numbers. Look for Esano fee (20%) and You earn.
Orders with more than one item
When a buyer orders several items from your shop, Esano works out the fee on your items' total, not item by item.
Two $4.99 items make $9.98. The fee is $2.00 (20% of $9.98 is $1.996) and you earn $7.98.
If the cart has items from other shops too, each shop gets its own order and its own fee. Your order only includes your items.
What is not part of the split
- Sales tax. If a buyer pays tax, it is added on top of the price. It isn't part of your 80% or Esano's 20%. See how sales tax affects your earnings.
- Card processing. Esano pays it out of its 20%.
- Free listings. There is no sale amount, so there is nothing to split.
When your earnings are paid
Your earnings are not sent the moment a buyer pays. They become eligible after a hold of 14 days, then go to your bank on the next payout Friday. See the 14-day payout hold and payout schedule and the $25 minimum.
Stripe's payout fees come out of the payout itself, not out of each sale. They are covered in Stripe payout fees explained.
What a refund does to these numbers
If you refund an item, you fund the refunded item price and Esano keeps its 20% fee. On a $10.00 item you earned $8.00, so after a full refund you are $2.00 worse off than if it had never sold. Refunds and your payouts shows how that is collected.
Common questions
Does sales tax reduce what I earn?
No. Tax is added on top of the price at checkout and is not part of your 80% or Esano's 20%.
Is the fee taken from each item or from the whole order?
Esano's 20% is worked out on the total of your items in the order, then rounded to the nearest cent.
