Your final payout when your shop closes

Updated

When your shop closes, whether you closed it yourself or Esano closed or suspended it, your remaining balance is paid on the regular payout schedule, without the $25 minimum. Esano can hold back only the amount needed for documented refunds, disputes and chargebacks.

What happens right away

  • New sales close immediately.
  • Orders that haven't been delivered are refunded or otherwise resolved.
  • Esano's policies still apply until the relationship ends. See Esano seller terms in plain language.

What Esano can hold back, and for how long

Esano may hold back only the amount reasonably needed for documented financial exposure, such as refunds, disputes and chargebacks that are open or may still be filed.

  • The period is measured from the latest of your last payment, the promised delivery date or the actual delivery date.
  • Esano reviews the held amount no later than 120 days after that date.
  • After the review, Esano keeps a part only while it is tied to an open case, and only where permitted.
  • Money held beyond that exposure is paid under the regular payout schedule.

Your Payouts page shows held money in a notice. See why a payout is late or paused.

Your final payout

  • No $25 minimum. Closure payouts aren't subject to it.
  • Under $25. The final amount is sent without deducting Stripe's fees for paying you. Esano pays them.
  • $25 or more. It remains subject to the usual deductions, including Stripe's payout fees. See Stripe payout fees explained.
  • Stripe's minimum. Every closure payout must meet Stripe's own minimum.

Payouts go out every other Friday. See payout schedule and the $25 minimum.

Amounts you owe and tax-form costs

Closing your shop doesn't cancel amounts you owe, refund obligations or records. See negative balances and amounts you owe.

If the cost of your annual tax form hasn't been recovered by then, Esano absorbs the rest. It doesn't bill you separately for it. See tax costs and fees for sellers.

If Esano can't reach you or can't pay

When the final release is due, Esano contacts you. If more is needed from you, it reminds you after 30 and 60 days. Esano emails you with the subject "Your final Esano balance is ready for review."

If you can't be reached, your Stripe verification is incomplete or the amount is below Stripe's minimum, Esano keeps the money recorded as owed to you and follows applicable unclaimed-property requirements. It doesn't silently forfeit it.

Keep your Stripe account and bank details current until you receive your final payout. See change your payout bank account.

Shops with no activity for 12 months

If a shop has no activity for 12 months, Esano pays out what is left in its balance, even if it is under $25. The same rules apply: a final amount under $25 is sent without Stripe's fees, and a larger one is subject to the usual deductions.

Common questions

Is there a $25 minimum for my final payout?

No. Closure payouts aren't subject to the $25 minimum, though they must meet Stripe's own minimum.

How long can Esano hold money after my shop closes?

Esano reviews any held amount no later than 120 days after your last payment, promised delivery or actual delivery. After that it keeps money only while it is tied to an open case.

What if my shop has no activity for a year?

After 12 months of inactivity, the money left in your balance is paid out even if it is under $25, subject to the deductions that apply.
