Sales tax doesn't change what you earn. You keep 80% of the item price, and the tax a buyer pays is not part of your share or Esano's 20% fee.
An example
Say a buyer purchases a $10.00 item and the checkout adds $0.80 in sales tax:
- Item price: $10.00
- Sales tax added at checkout: $0.80
- The buyer pays: $10.80
- Esano fee (20% of the item price): $2.00
- Your share (80% of the item price): $8.00
The $0.80 isn't in either share. Esano is responsible for filing and paying it. These numbers are only an example. Whether an order has tax, and how much, depends on where the buyer is. See whether Esano collects sales tax. For more examples of what you keep, see how much you earn on each sale.
Who pays the cost of calculating tax
Esano does. The Esano fee covers card processing and the fee for calculating sales tax, so neither is taken out of your earnings. For the rest of what comes out of payouts, see what can be deducted from my payout.
Where you see tax in your account
Tax shows up in Balance history on your Payouts page:
- Open Seller hub → Payouts.
- Scroll to Balance history.
- Pick a month with Statement month (UTC) and select Show statement.
The table has these columns: Date, Activity, Balance change, Tax, Esano commission and Reference. The Tax column shows the sales tax on that sale, separate from your Balance change. If the column says Under review, see why the Tax column says Under review.
To keep the whole month, select Download monthly CSV. It includes every entry for that month, even if the table shows only part of them. See download your payout statements.
When you can be paid
Earnings become eligible 14 days after the sale, or after custom delivery for custom orders. Tax doesn't change that timing.

No. Your earnings are based on the item price. Sales tax is added on top for the buyer and handled by Esano.
Do I pay the cost of calculating sales tax?
