Your earnings from a sale become eligible for payout 14 days after the buyer pays. For custom work, the 14 days start after the final files are delivered and the buyer can access them. Buyer approval never shortens the hold.
How the hold works
The hold is rolling. Each sale has its own 14 days, so earnings become eligible one sale at a time, not in a batch. The hold is the same for every shop.
- Ready-made files: 14 days after payment.
- Custom work: 14 days after accessible final delivery. A payment, a preview or marking work complete doesn't start it. Before delivery, the order shows On hold until delivery. See when a custom order completes and when you get paid.
When a hold ends, the order's badge changes to Hold complete. Your earnings then wait for the next payout Friday.
A timeline example
The first payout Friday is October 23, 2026. Earnings that are eligible by 12:00 a.m. Central time (America/Chicago) on that Friday go out in that payout.
- A sale paid October 5 is eligible October 19. It goes out October 23.
- A sale paid October 12 is eligible October 26. It misses October 23 and goes out November 6.
- A custom order delivered October 12 follows the same dates as the second example, whatever day the buyer paid.
Payouts then run every 14 days. See payout schedule and the $25 minimum.
Why Esano holds money
The hold covers refund requests, refunds and card disputes that can follow a sale. A refund inside the hold is taken out of your earnings before they are paid, so nothing has been sent yet. See how refunds affect your earnings and payouts.
What can extend the hold on part of your money
Some things hold only the affected amount. The rest of your eligible balance is paid on schedule.
- An open refund request on an order.
- An open dispute (chargeback).
- A refund made outside Esano that isn't resolved.
- An open review of an order.
Esano holds the amount at stake on that order, plus any dispute fee allocated to you. Your Payouts page shows this as money held for an open case.
Two things may pause your payouts more broadly: a review that concerns your whole shop, or an unexplained movement of funds out of Esano's payment account. Payouts stay paused until it's resolved.

Where you see the hold
- Payouts shows On hold, the total still within its 14 days.
- Each order shows a badge such as On hold until Oct 19. See order payout badges.
- The Payout account section lists Eligible: 14 days after sale or custom delivery.
Common questions
Can a buyer's approval release my money sooner?
No. Buyer approval never shortens the 14-day hold, for ready-made files or custom work.
When does the hold start on a custom order?
After the final files are delivered and accessible to the buyer, not when the buyer pays.
Does the hold apply to every shop?
Yes. Every sale on Esano has a rolling 14-day hold.
