When a custom order completes and when you get paid

Updated

A custom order completes when the buyer approves your delivery, or automatically 7 days after you deliver. Your earnings become eligible 14 days after accessible final delivery. Approval doesn't make that faster.

How an order completes

After you deliver, the buyer can:

  • Approve it. The order becomes Completed, and you get an email, "[Buyer] approved your custom order".
  • Ask for changes. The order goes back to Revision asked if they have revisions left. See Handle revisions and problem reports.
  • Do nothing. Seven days after delivery, the order completes automatically. You get an email, "Custom order completed".

While the order waits, your request page shows Waiting for [buyer] and the date it completes. The Delivered tab lists that date under Completes.

The 14-day payout hold

Esano holds earnings from custom work for 14 days. The hold:

  • Starts at accessible final delivery, when the buyer can actually get the agreed files.
  • Doesn't start at payment, and doesn't start on a preview or unusable placeholder.
  • Is never shortened by the buyer approving the order or the order completing.
  • Starts again if the buyer asks for changes. It pauses at the request, then restarts when you deliver the revised files.

Ready-made files work differently. Their 14 days start at purchase. Custom orders wait for delivery.

How much you earn

Esano keeps a 20% platform fee on each item price. The quote form shows "You earn" with your amount before you send it. Stripe's payout fees are deducted from the payout itself.

When the money reaches your bank

Once earnings are eligible, they go out in your next bank payout:

  • Bank payouts run every other Friday, starting October 23, 2026.
  • Earnings that are eligible by 12:00 a.m. America/Chicago time on a payout Friday are included.
  • A payout needs at least $25 after deductions.

You set up payouts with Stripe from your Seller hub. A transfer to your Stripe balance isn't a bank payout.

When a payout is paused

An open refund request, dispute or review on an order pauses the affected payout. Esano records a decision on refund requests within 5 calendar days, and an overdue decision doesn't release funds automatically. See How Esano decides a refund request.

Check an order's status

Open Custom orders and use the Delivered and Completed tabs. A completed order stays visible under Completed, and its History shows each step with the date and time in UTC.

Common questions

Does the buyer approving my custom order release my money sooner?

No. The 14-day hold starts at accessible final delivery, and buyer approval never shortens it.

When does a custom order complete on its own?

Seven days after you deliver, if the buyer hasn't approved or asked for changes.

Why is my custom order payout paused?

An open refund request or review on that order pauses the affected payout until Esano decides.
