Fix "That code is incorrect or has expired"

Updated

Esano codes are valid for 10 minutes and are 6 digits long. If you see "That code is incorrect or has expired.", select Send a new code and enter the code from the newest email.

Why a code stops working

  • It's older than 10 minutes. Esano codes don't work after that time.
  • It's from an older email. If you asked for several codes, use the one in the most recent email.
  • It's a different kind of code. Sign-up, sign-in and password reset codes are for those steps. Use the code from the email for the step you're on.
  • A digit is wrong. Check each one against the email.
  • The email address is different. The code only works with the address it was sent to.
  • It's already been used. A password reset code can only be used once.

Fix it

  1. Check the email address shown on the screen. If it's wrong, select Change email address and enter the right one.
  2. Select Send a new code. If the button shows a countdown, such as "Send a new code in 40s", wait for it to finish.
  3. Open the newest email from no-reply@updates.esano.com. See which email addresses Esano sends from.
  4. Enter the 6 digits in the 6-digit code field.
  5. Select the button on that screen: Confirm and sign in, Sign in or Reset password.

The field only accepts digits. You can paste "123 456" or "Code: 123456" and Esano keeps the 6 digits.

When the code is right but the password is rejected

On Set a new password, Esano checks that the passwords match and are at least 8 characters before it uses your code. If it accepts the code and then can't save the new password, it says "Request a new code to try again." Request a new code and start over. See reset a forgotten password.

Not getting new codes either?

If no email comes, follow your code doesn't arrive. If you see "Too many attempts. Please wait a minute and try again.", wait a minute before requesting another code.

Skip the code

If you know your password, you can sign in with it. If you started from Confirm your email after registering, a password sign-in also sends you a new confirmation code.
