Sales tax at checkout

Listing prices don't include sales tax. When tax applies to your order, it is added on top of your item prices at checkout.

Where you see tax

• Listing page: The price is shown in USD with a note that local taxes are calculated at checkout.
• Cart drawer: Your Subtotal is item prices only. The drawer says taxes are calculated at checkout.
• Payment page: When tax applies, Stripe, which processes Esano payments, works out the tax and shows it before you pay.
• Receipt email: Your receipt lists Subtotal, Tax and Total.
• Purchases and reviews: Each order shows its Order total.

How tax is worked out

Stripe calculates the tax for your order, and Esano collects it as the seller of record. Esano charges sales tax only where it is required to collect it, so some orders have no tax.

Checkout may ask for a full billing address. Tax rates can vary within a state, so the address helps get the right amount.

What counts toward the minimum

The $3 cart minimum is checked against your paid item prices before tax. Tax never helps you reach it. See the $3 cart minimum.

Fees on your order

Your checkout total is your item prices plus any tax. Esano's fee is taken from the shop's sale, not added to what you pay.

Tax and refunds

When Esano approves a refund for a whole item, the refund includes the tax charged on that item. Learn more in full and partial refunds.

Where to find the tax you paid

1. Check your receipt email for the Tax line.
2. Or open Purchases and reviews from your account menu to see your Order total.
