Form 1099-K and your Esano sales

Updated

Esano collects the tax ID number it needs for 1099-K reporting when you set up payouts with Stripe. The actual cost of filing the form is deducted from your next payout.

What Esano collects

The Retailer Terms say that to pay you, Esano needs your first name, last name and tax ID number for 1099-K reporting. You give these to Stripe when you set up payouts. See add your tax information in Stripe.

Esano asks Stripe to collect the information for 1099-K tax reporting on your shop's account. If Stripe later needs more from you, your payout status shows Action needed and you finish on Stripe. See Stripe says action needed or not finished.

Where to find your tax forms

  1. Open Seller hub → Payouts.
  2. Select Manage on Stripe.
  3. Look for your tax forms in your Stripe dashboard.

The link opens in a new tab.

Who pays for the form

The cost of filing your annual tax form is passed on to you. Esano deducts the actual cost from your next payout without taking that payout below zero, and carries any remainder to later payouts. It is not a bank debit. See tax costs and fees and what can be deducted from my payout for details.

What Esano can't tell you

Esano's help pages don't set out the dollar amount or number of sales that triggers a form, deadlines, or which form is right for your situation. That depends on tax rules and your own sales, and Esano can't give you that advice.

What is useful to know:

  • A 1099-K reports payments received, not your profit. Your own taxes depend on your income and costs.
  • Your monthly statement in Balance history is a record of your balance activity. It may not match the totals on a tax form.
  • Sales tax collected from buyers is filed and paid by Esano, and it isn't part of your earnings. See whether Esano collects sales tax.
