You give Esano your tax information through Stripe, on Stripe's secure site. Until you finish, buyers can't see your paid listings and you can't publish new paid ones. Free-only listings can still be published.
What Stripe asks for
Esano pays sellers through Stripe. Stripe's setup collects your identity, bank account and tax information. The Retailer Terms say Esano needs your first name, last name and tax ID number for 1099-K reporting. You enter these on Stripe, not on Esano.
- Selling is currently available only to sellers based in the United States, with a US Stripe account and a US bank account.
- You need to be at least 18. You don't need a business.
- Stripe keeps your bank details. Esano never sees them.
Connect your shop to Stripe
- Open Seller hub → Payouts.
- Find the notice at the top. It says Set up payouts to start selling.
- Select Connect with Stripe.
- Follow the steps on Stripe's site. It takes about 5 minutes.
- When Stripe sends you back, Esano refreshes your status right away.
If you started but didn't finish, the notice says Finish setting up payouts. and the button says Continue on Stripe. For more on this step, see connect Stripe to get paid.
What each status means
Your Payout account section on the Payouts page shows a status:
- Not connected: you haven't started.
- Not finished: you started but didn't complete Stripe's steps.
- Action needed: Stripe needs one more thing from you. Select Finish on Stripe. Your paid listings stay hidden until it's done. See Stripe says action needed or not finished.
- Stripe is reviewing: Stripe is checking your details. This usually takes a few minutes, and your paid listings go live as soon as it's done.
- Connected: you're set.
Stripe can ask for more information later, for example when its tax requirements change. If so, the status changes to Action needed and you finish on Stripe the same way.
See or change your details later
On the Payouts page, select Manage on Stripe to open your Stripe dashboard. You can change your payout bank account there, and see your payout schedule and tax forms.
Only the shop owner can see payouts and tax details. Team members with other roles don't. See shop team roles and what each can do.
If Stripe says your country isn't supported
Esano currently supports only US sellers. See selling from outside the US.
