How ratings show on your shop and listings

Updated

Ratings show up on your listing page, your listing cards, and your shop page. Each is worked out from the real reviews buyers left, and none show until there is at least one review.

On a listing page

The Reviews for this item section shows:

  • The average rating out of 5, to one decimal place, with stars.
  • The number of reviews.
  • A breakdown bar for each star level (5 to 1).
  • The reviews themselves, each marked Verified purchase, with the license the buyer bought, any photo the buyer added, and your reply if you wrote one.

Shoppers can sort with Sort reviews by Most recent, Highest rated or Lowest rated, and select Show more reviews to load more. A listing with no reviews says "No reviews yet."

On listing cards

Listing cards show the stars and the review count, but only once that listing has a review. Without reviews the card shows no rating.

On your shop page

The header of your shop shows your shop rating and the number of reviews, such as 4.8 and "(12 reviews)". It appears once any of your listings has a review.

Your shop rating is the average of every review on your listings that are for sale. A listing with 20 reviews counts for more than one with 2. It is not the plain average of each listing's average. For the buyer-side view, see how star ratings are calculated.

In your Seller hub

Seller hub → Reviews shows your Average rating and how many reviews it comes from. That page counts all the reviews visible for your shop, so its number can differ slightly from the shop page if you have reviews on listings no longer for sale. See see reviews of your listings.

In search results

Esano gives search engines the rating for a listing only when it has at least one review, and it matches the numbers shown on the page. See how Google finds your listings.

When a rating changes

A rating updates when reviews change:

  • A new review adds to it.
  • A buyer who edits their review can change its stars. Buyers can edit for 60 days after posting.
  • A review the buyer deletes leaves the average.
  • A review removed by Esano after a report leaves the average. See report a review or ask for removal.
  • A refund doesn't change it. The buyer's existing review stays published and keeps counting.

Common questions

Why doesn't my listing show stars?

Stars only appear once a listing has at least one review. Until then, the listing page says "No reviews yet."

Is my shop rating the average of each listing's stars?

It's the average of all the reviews on your listings that are for sale. A listing with more reviews counts for more.

Can I hide a rating from my shop?

No. Ratings come from real buyer reviews and are always shown once there is one. You can report a review that breaks the rules.
