Star, archive and mark shop messages

Updated

Use Star, Archive, Mark unread and Mark read to sort your shop messages. Nothing is deleted when you use them.

Star a conversation

Select the star next to a conversation in the list, or the star at the top of an open conversation (Star conversation). Starred conversations appear in the Starred folder. Select the star again to remove it.

Archive a conversation

To archive from an open conversation, select Archive at the top. You go back to the folder you came from.

To archive from the list:

  1. Tick the box next to each conversation you want to archive. Use the box at the top left (Select all conversations) to pick every row on the page.
  2. Select Archive in the bar above the list.

Archived conversations are removed from Inbox, Unread and Needs a reply. Find them in the Archived folder. There, the same button reads Move to inbox. Select it to bring a conversation back. For the other folders, see read buyer messages in your shop inbox.

Mark messages read or unread

Opening a conversation marks it read. To flag one for later:

  • In an open conversation, select Mark unread.
  • In the list, tick one or more conversations, then select Mark unread or Mark read.

The unread number beside Messages in the Seller hub menu updates to match.

Use the menu on a phone

On a small screen, the actions at the top of an open conversation collapse into a More actions menu (the three dots). It holds Star, Archive, Mark unread and Report.

Who sees your stars and archives

Stars and archived conversations are your own. If your shop has a team, your teammates don't see what you starred or archived, and yours aren't affected by theirs. The conversation itself, including whether it's unread or waiting on a reply, belongs to the shop. See who on your team can see shop messages.

If an action doesn't work

If Esano can't save a change, you'll see a message such as "Couldn't archive that conversation. Try again." and the star goes back to how it was. Check your connection and try again. If you still have trouble, contact support.

Report from the same toolbar

The toolbar also has a Report button for conversations that are spam, abusive or a scam. See report an abusive or spam buyer message.

Common questions

Does archiving a conversation delete it?

No. Archiving moves the conversation out of your inbox into the Archived folder. You can move it back at any time.
