Choose a shop name and web address

Your shop name must be 3 to 40 characters, start with a letter or number, and be one nobody else is using. Esano turns the name into your shop's web address, for example esano.com/shop/botanical-co.

Shop name rules

• 3 to 40 characters.
• Starts with a letter or number.
• Letters, numbers, spaces, and the characters & ' . - are allowed.
• The web address made from your name must have at least 3 letters or numbers.

If your name breaks a rule, setup asks for 3 to 40 characters, starting with a letter or number.

How your web address is made

Your address is your shop name in lowercase, with accents removed and every run of other characters turned into one hyphen. Hyphens at the start and end are dropped, and the address is cut off at 40 characters.

Setup shows the address under the name field as you type, so you can see exactly what buyers will use. Once your shop is open, see help shoppers find and share your shop for ways to share it.

Check that your name is available

1. During setup, go to Name your shop.
2. Type your name in Shop name.
3. Wait for the status next to the address. Checking… changes to Available or Already taken.
4. If you see Already taken, change the name until Available appears.
5. Select Continue. You cannot continue while the name is taken.

Names that look different can still make the same address. "Paper & Pine" and "Paper Pine" both become paper-pine, so the second one would be taken if the first is in use.

Pick a name you will keep

Once your shop is open, you can find your name and address in Seller hub → Settings → Shop under Shop details. They are listed as Shop name and Shop address, with no edit option. See can I change my shop name or address for the rules. Setup tells you the address is saved and yours to keep.

Because the name is also part of your address, it is worth choosing something that:

• Fits what you make, so buyers know what to expect.
• Is easy to say, spell and remember.
• Will still fit if you add new categories later.

What buyers see
