Send a quote for a custom order

Updated

Send a quote from the request page. The buyer sees your price and terms, and has 7 days to accept and pay. They are never charged until they accept.

Send a quote

  1. Go to Custom orders and open the request.
  2. Select Send a quote.
  3. Fill in the Quote for [buyer] form.
  4. Select Send quote.

To quote someone who messaged you first, use Start a new custom quote in the conversation. You also give the order a name of 3 to 80 characters.

The quote form

  • Price: from $5.00 to $2,000.00.
  • Delivered within: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, 21, 30, 45 or 60 days after payment.
  • What's included: 10 to 1,000 characters describing exactly what the buyer gets.
  • Files: tick the file types you'll deliver, such as PDF, PNG, SVG, Canva template, Procreate, embroidery formats, fonts or ZIP.
  • Revisions included: 0 to 5. It starts at your default from Set up your custom order details.
  • License: Personal, Commercial or Extended. It starts from the use the buyer chose. See Esano license types explained.
  • Note to [buyer]: optional, up to 500 characters.

Once you type a price, the form shows "You earn" with your amount after the 20% fee. With no price entered, it says "Valid for 7 days".

What happens next

The buyer gets an email, "[Shop] sent you a quote", with the price and the date the quote ends. About two days before it ends, Esano sends the buyer a reminder. Your request moves to the Quote sent tab, which shows Quote expires. For the buyer's side, see Review, decline or renew a custom order quote.

The buyer can:

  • Accept and pay. The order becomes In progress and the delivery clock starts. You get an email, "[Buyer] paid: deliver by [date]".
  • Decline the quote. They pick a reason: Too expensive, Found another option, Don't need it anymore or Other. With Too expensive or Other, the request comes back to New and you have 3 days to send a different quote. The other two reasons close it.
  • Do nothing. After 7 days the quote expires. You and the buyer are emailed. The buyer can ask you for a new quote, which gives you 3 days to answer.

Change or replace a quote

While the quote is open, the request page shows Your quote with Valid until and an Update quote button. Sending an update replaces the old quote and restarts the 7 days. The buyer is told. If you change your mind about the job, select Decline instead, pick a reason and add a note.

After the buyer pays

Payment locks the quote. The request page shows it under Accepted quote with "Paid · locked". Next, record when you start. See Record when you start custom work.

Common questions

How long does a quote last?

A quote is valid for 7 days. If the buyer hasn't paid by then, the quote expires and you are emailed.

Can I change a quote after I send it?

Yes, while it is open. Select Update quote and send a new one. It replaces the old quote and is valid for 7 days from then.

Why can't I send a quote?

Stripe payouts must be connected and active first. Buyers can't pay you until they are.
