Turn on Take custom orders in your shop settings. Buyers can then send you requests from your shop page and from your listings.
Turn custom orders on
- In your Seller hub, go to Settings → Shop.
- Under Shop status, find Custom orders.
- Switch on Take custom orders.
Esano confirms with "Custom orders are on. Buyers can now send you requests." Only the shop owner and Managers see this switch. See Shop team roles and what each can do for what each role can do.
What you need first
Buyers can only send a request while all of this is true:
- Custom orders are on.
- Your payouts are connected and active in Stripe. You also can't send quotes until Stripe is connected.
- Vacation mode is off.
- You haven't reached your open request limit, if you set one.
A buyer can have one open request with your shop at a time. Esano also limits each buyer to five new requests a day.
What buyers see
- A Request a custom order button on your shop page.
- Want this personalized? on each listing that offers personalized versions.
Your shop page also shows a short line such as "Takes custom orders · from $25 · within a week", built from your custom order details. For the buyer's view, see Find shops that take custom orders.
Choose which listings offer personalization
Each listing offers personalized versions by default. To turn it off for one listing:
- Go to Listings and open the listing.
- In the Custom orders section, untick Offer personalized versions.
- Save the listing.
Untick it for items you can't customize. A request started from a listing is linked to that listing in your Custom orders page.
Turn custom orders off
Switch Take custom orders off in the same place. Esano confirms with "Custom orders are off. Open requests stay open until you finish them."
- Buyers can't send new requests.
- Requests you already have keep going. Paid orders still need delivery.
- Custom orders stays in your Seller hub menu while you have any open request.
Where to manage everything
Your Seller hub has a Custom orders page. It lists every request and shows a count of the ones that need you. If custom orders are off, the page shows "Custom orders are off" with a Turn them on button.
Common questions
Why can't buyers send me a custom request?
Custom orders must be switched on, your Stripe payouts must be fully set up, and your shop can't be on vacation mode. A request also fails if you've reached the open request limit you set.
What happens to open requests if I turn custom orders off?
They stay open. You can keep working on them and finish them. Only new requests stop.
