What the Personal license allows

Updated

The Personal license lets you use the files in your own non-commercial projects: home prints, gifts, personal social posts and school work. Anything you make with them can't be sold.

What you can do

  • Print a design at home for your own space
  • Make a gift for someone, like a printed card or a decorated mug
  • Use artwork in a personal social media post
  • Use files in school work

Esano describes the license as "Personal projects, no selling".

What you can't do

  • Sell anything made with the files, in any quantity
  • Use the files for client work
  • Share, resell or give away the original files

Using the files for a business or for a client is commercial use. For that, you need a Commercial or Extended license. See Use Esano files in client work.

Personal license on free listings

A shop can price a license at $0. A free license is still a license, so a free Personal license has the same limits as a paid one. The License and usage section on the listing page shows the terms. To get a free file, see Claim free downloads.

Get a bigger license

If the listing offers Commercial or Extended, you can choose one of those instead on the listing page. If it sells only Personal and you need more, message the shop and ask whether they offer other terms.

Common questions

Can I print the file as many times as I want?

The Personal license text doesn't set a print count. It covers personal, non-commercial use. If any copy leaves your own use, such as printed copies to sell, you need a different license.

Can I post it on my business account?

The Personal license covers personal social posts. If the post promotes a business or helps sell something, choose Commercial or ask the shop first.

Can I share the files with friends or family?

No. No license lets you share the original files. Send the person the listing link, and they can buy their own. See Can I share or resell files I bought?.

Common questions

Can I give something I made with Personal files to a friend?

Yes, as a finished gift for personal use, like a printed card or a mug you decorated. You can't give them the original files.

Can I sell a craft I made with a Personal license file?

No. Anything made with Personal license files can't be sold. Choose Commercial or Extended if the listing offers them.
