Archive a conversation

Updated

Archive hides a conversation from your inbox without deleting it. Open the conversation and click Archive, or tick it in your inbox and click Archive in the toolbar.

Archive from your inbox

  1. Go to Your account → Messages.
  2. Tick the box next to one or more conversations.
  3. Click Archive in the toolbar.

The conversations leave your Inbox and move to Archived.

Archive from inside a conversation

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Click Archive in the header.

Esano takes you back to the folder you came from. On a phone, tap the three-dot More actions button. Archive is in that menu.

Find an archived conversation

Open Your account → Messages and choose Archived in the folder list. Conversations you archived are there, along with any you reported. For the other folders, see Find and manage your messages.

Move it back to your inbox

  1. Open Archived.
  2. Tick the conversation, then click Move to inbox. Or open it and click Move to inbox in the header.

What brings an archived conversation back

If a shop sends you a new message, the conversation moves back to your Inbox on its own, so you don't miss it. A message you send yourself doesn't move it.

What archiving does and doesn't do

  • It only changes your view. The shop isn't told, and its own inbox isn't affected.
  • It doesn't delete anything. Esano keeps messages to prevent fraud and help with disputes. See What not to share in messages.
  • It doesn't turn off emails. If the shop replies, you can still get an email unless you turned message emails off. See Turn message emails on or off.

If you want to stop hearing from a shop

Esano's Messages doesn't have a block button. Archive the conversation to move it out of sight. If the messages are spam, harassment, or a request to pay outside Esano, report them. See Report a conversation.

Common questions

Does archiving delete the conversation?

No. It moves to your Archived folder, and you can move it back to your inbox any time.

Can I block a shop from messaging me?

Messages doesn't have a block option. You can archive a conversation to get it out of your inbox, or report it if it's spam, harassment or a scam.
