What you can send in a message

Messages on Esano are plain text, from 1 to 2,000 characters. You can't attach files, photos or other attachments.

Length

Each message can be up to 2,000 characters. When you have 200 or fewer left, a line under the box shows "characters left." You can't type past the limit.

If you have more to say, send it as two or more messages. They all go into the same conversation.

Line breaks

Press Shift + Enter to start a new line. Pressing Enter on its own sends the message. A blank line between paragraphs shows as a paragraph break in the conversation.

No attachments

There's no button to attach a file or image to a message. Instead:

• Describe what you see or need in a few clear sentences.
• Say which listing you mean. Messages you send from a listing page are linked to that listing, so the shop sees its title and price. See Message a shop on Esano.
• Include details the shop can act on, such as the file type you need or the size you want.

No editing after you send

Esano doesn't have a way to edit or unsend a message. Read your message once before you press send.

Tips for a message that gets a good reply

• Lead with your question.
• Name the listing or order you're asking about.
• Ask one thing at a time when you can.
• Keep personal and payment information out. See What not to share in messages.

If a message won't send

An empty message, a message over the limit, or too many messages in a short time can stop a send. See Fix a message that didn't send.
